PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding method and a molding apparatus capable of molding a large-sized molded product without using a wide sheetlike material or remodeling molding equipment so as to adapt the same to the wide sheetlike material. SOLUTION: A lower mold 12 and an upper mold 13 are clamped after the sheetlike material S is supplied to the space between both molds 12 and 13 and the sheetlike material S is molded between the molding surfaces 12a and 13a of both molds 12 and 13. In this case, a plurality of bending deformable linear materials 16 are constructed in the vicinity of the upper opening part 12b of the recessed molding surface 12a of the lower mold 12. Then, the sheetlike material S supplied to the gap between both molding surfaces 12a and 13a is supported by the constructed linear materials 16 and, after the molds are clamped, they are relaxed from the constructed state so that the linear materials 16 are bent and deformed accompanied by the molding displacement of the sheetlike material S.
