PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of performing multi-speed recording to a multi-level optical recording medium. SOLUTION: There is provided the data recording method to the multi-level optical recording medium capable of performing the multi-level recording by controlling the relative optical reflectivity of a virtual recording cell with a recording mark formed thereon, in which the recording power and/or pulse width of a laser beam in recording at a first recording linear velocity and the recording power and/or pulse width of a laser beam in recording at a second recording linear velocity are set substantially the same.
