A method for calculating the magnitude of a cornering force generated in each of wheels, comprising the steps of obtaining the magnitude of a centrifugal force in an approximately vertical direction to the advancing direction of a vehicle applied to the vehicle during turning, and the ground-contact length of each of the plurality of wheels and the deformed amount of each of the wheels at each of the ground-contact portions of the plurality of wheels in the wheel width direction while the vehicle is turning, calculating a differences between the deformed amount of each of the wheels in the lateral direction and the deformed amount of each of the wheels in the lateral direction while the vehicle is traveling straightforward, and calculating the magnitude of the cornering force generated in each of the wheels by using the magnitude of the centrifugal force, the ground-contact length, and the difference of the deformed amount in the lateral direction.
