PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved wood-preservative composition that can lower the surface tension of the aqueous preservative and can increase the infiltration of the preservative into the inside of the wood. SOLUTION: The wood preservative composition comprises an aqueous preservative and 0.001 to 1.0% based on the total mass of the composition of a polyether-modified silicone represented by general formulas (1) or general formula (2) (wherein R<SP>1</SP>is an alkyl or the like, R<SP>2</SP>is a polyoxyalkylene group represented by general formula (3): -C<SB>x</SB>H<SB>2x</SB>O-(C<SB>2</SB>H<SB>4</SB>O)<SB>y</SB>(C<SB>3</SB>H<SB>6</SB>O)z-R<SB>3</SB>, p is an integer of 0 to 3, q is an integer of 1 to 2 and r is an integer of 0 to 6).
