PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor-driven sliding variable resistor hardly causing a drawback in which a driving pulley or a belt comes off by restricting the movement of the driving pulley in an axial line direction. SOLUTION: The resistor is provided with a frame 1 having a motor 2 attached to its one end; the driving pulley 3 having a gear 3a coupled with a rotary shaft 2a of the motor 2; a driven pulley 5 rotatably provided at the other end of the frame 1; a circular belt 6 stainedly hung over between the driving pulley 3 and the driven pulley 5, and having a tooth 6a mating with the gear 3a; and a variable resistor 8 attached to the frame 1 so that a resistance value is adjusted by the movement of a moving body 7 coupled with the belt 6 in the longitudinal direction of the frame 1 accompanied by the rotation of the motor 2. A slip protection member 10 provided independently from the driving pulley 3 and made of a composite resin rotatable integrally with the rotary shaft 2a is attached on a tip rather than the attaching position of the driving pulley 3 coupled to the rotary shaft 2a of the motor 2.
