A short message management system is provided to receive SMS(Short Message Service) messages even when the capacity of a memory is deficient, and to output previously received SMS messages by printing the messages, thus information can be preserved. An SMSC(SMS Center)(50) transmits an SMS message through a wire/wireless communication network. A wire/wireless terminal(5) for SMS reception consists of a memory(20) for storing the SMS message provided from the SMSC(50), and a CPU(Central Processing Unit)(11) for printing the SMS message stored in the memory(20) and for deleting the SMS message, if the remaining capacity of the memory(20) is less than a certain value while the SMS message is received.
