PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a light spot exactly follow the track center of an optical disk by eliminating the offset generated in a tracking error signal due to focus offset adjustment. SOLUTION: The optical disk inspection apparatus displaces an objective lens 25 in the optical axis direction of a laser beam while stopping tracking servo control and detects a tracking offset correction coefficient as a tracking deviation relation from an amount of change in the tracking error signal with respect to the amount of deviation of the light spot from the recording surface in the optical disk DK. An amount of correction is calculated by multiplying the amount-of-deviation detection signal indicating the amount of deviation of the light spot from the recording surface of the optical disk DK by a coefficient of tracking offset correction and the tracking servo of the objective lens 50 is controlled by superposing the calculated amount of the tracking correction on the tracking servo signal.
