IMAGE SCANNER AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high image quality image scanner by improving resonance characteristics and improving control stability to achieve transport control with high precision, and to provide an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The image scanner comprises a linear motor 7 for transporting an optical unit 1 for reading image information stored on a stimulable phosphor plate P on a straight line, a conversion means for converting linear motion of the optical unit 1 into rotation by a pulley 52 rotated through a wire rope 6 and a rotary encoder 51 for detecting the rotation.
