摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device capable of preventing the burning, by setting a median value of an optimum pixel electrode potential and of preventing the occurrence of flickers because of the change in the luminance of the display screen, between the time of retaining positive polarity display signals and the time of retaining negative polarity display signals, at low cost. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is driven, in such a manner that the difference, in the potential of a storage capacitor line between the time of writing the positive polarity display signals to a pixel electrode and the time of retaining the display signals, is made to differ from the difference in the potential of a storage capacitor line between the time of writing the negative polarity display signals to the pixel electrode and the time of retaining the display signals, and the swing width of the pixel electrode potential by capacity-coupling drive at the writing of positive polarity display signals to the pixel electrode is made to differ from the amplitude width of the pixel electrode potential by capacity coupling drive at the writing of negative polarity display signals to the pixel electrode.
