PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorbent with a high lower aliphatic aldehyde adsorption capacity, and its production method. SOLUTION: In the adsorbent in which aminobenzenesulfonic acid is attached to an activated carbon, when a specific surface area of the activated carbon before attachment is made to S (m2/g) and an amount of attached aminobenzenesulfonic acid per gram of adsorbent is made to A (mmol/g), S≥1,500 and 1≤A≤1.2×10-3×S.
