The hydropneumatic spring strut for a motor vehicle, with a gas-filled spring unit (2) and a piston and cylinder unit containing hydraulic fluid, has a decoupling element (3) charged with hydraulic fluid pressure and connected to the piston and cylinder unit, and which comprises a sleeve-type U-bellows (19). The U-bellows rolls on a roll piston (16a,16b) of similar geometry in each case which is allocated to the piston and cylinder unit and to the vehicle structure, or to an axle link.
