PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device in which pickup drive operation, traverse mechanism drive operation, and tray opening and closing operation are performed by the same motor and switching of drive force transmission can be performed smoothly with simple constitution. SOLUTION: Tray open operation is started, a pickup unit 3 is in the most inner peripheral position, a sub-rack 17 front edge presses an outer peripheral plane of a tray gear 8. Thereby, the tray gear is rotated a little temporarily, since a cam groove C provided at an upper plane of a large diameter gear part 8a of the tray gear 8 pushes out a little a boss 6g projected from a lower plane pf a cam slider 6 engaged with this, the cam slider 6 is slid to the left side slightly in a figure. At this time, a rack part 6f of the cam slider 6 is started to engage to a small diameter gear part 8b. Also, a flat gear 5a running idle due to opposing to a lacking teeth part 8aa of the large diameter gear part 8a untill then is started to engage with teeth of the large diameter gear part 8a by some rotation of the tray gear 8.
