Lock for front bonnet of motor vehicle has fixed lock section on bodywork and keeper on bonnet co-operating with bonnet lift for pedestrian protection

The lock (2) for the front bonnet of a motor vehicle has a fixed lock section (1) on the vehicle and a keeper on the bonnet. The bonnet is releasable to move into a raised position when a collision sensor determines that there is a collision with a pedestrian. The lock allows the front bonnet drive to operate without releasing the lock around a preset movement path with respect to the vehicle bodywork. The lock can have a holder (11,13) to retain the lock with a preset retaining load limit.
