A DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) system for reducing a working load of a DMB receiver and a method of transmitting PSI(Program Specific Information)/SI(Service Information) version information and parsing PSI/SI are provided to parse PSI/SI only when there is a variation in the PSI/SI to reduce an unnecessary working load caused by a parsing operation. A DMB system includes a DMB station and a DMB receiver. The DMB station receives version information of PSI/SI from a PSI/SI generator, generates PSI/SI version information, and transmits the PSI/SI version information through one of predetermined channels. The DMB receiver receives the PSI/SI version information, compares the received PSI/SI version information with previously stored PSI/SI version information, and parses received PSI/SI according to the comparison result.
