An apparatus and a method for providing a self power-saving function are provided to automatically store files necessary for executing an application program selected by a user in a flash memory and block power supply to a hard disc. An input unit(110) receives information indicating whether power is supplied to a hard disc. A data management unit(160) copies data corresponding to a kind of a specific file among data stored in the hard disc to a flash memory(180). A power management unit(130) blocks the power supply to the hard disc after the copy is completed according to whether the power is supplied to the hard disc.
