Disclosed are N-substituted metabolites of diphenhydramine, which have been found to be potent and orally active antihistaminic compounds that are devoid of sedative side effects. Pharmaceutically acceptable salts of the compounds, a complex with 8-chlorotheo- phylline, therapeutic use and compositions containing the compounds are also described.
