A method and an apparatus for transmitting multimedia contents items through a terminal during video communication are provided to transmit emotions, feelings, or contents or objects, which a user wants to express, to the other party through the multimedia contents during the video communication in a WCDMA(Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) network, thereby enabling the user to always use downloaded items during video communication with the other party. A method for transmitting multimedia contents items during video communication comprises the following steps of: connecting to a service providing apparatus; receiving at least one multimedia contents items from the service providing apparatus(201); receiving at least one key input from a user in order to transmit the multimedia contents items during video communication with a video receiving terminal by a video call attempt(205); and transmitting the multimedia contents items to the video receiving terminal after composing the multimedia contents items, selected by the user, with a video during communication with the video receiving terminal(209).
