PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration damping device having optimized vibration damping effects by adjusting the resonance frequency of a mass member. SOLUTION: The vibration damping device 10 comprises an elastic member 14 mounted on a vibrator 12, the mass member 16 fixed to the elastic member 14 and having a sufficient mass for reducing the vibration of the vibrator 12, and a curving mechanism 18 for curving the mass member 16 to adjust the face rigidity of the mass member 16. By adjusting the face rigidity of the mass member 16, the spring constant of the mass member 16 is changed and the resonance frequency of the mass member is thus adjusted.
