<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably avoid such a situation that a medium is wholly wasted because of a writing error in a hologram. <P>SOLUTION: Upon recording information in a hologram recording material 24, reference light 12b is projected in an incident range which covers an incident range of signal light 11b into the hologram recording material 24 as well as covers the last recording region 24b. Thereby, while data are recorded in the current recording region 24a, reproducing light 13a is generated from the last recording region 32b, separated from other unnecessary light by an aperture 27, guided to an imaging device 29 to be reproduced, and inspected whether an error in the reproduced data is present or not. If an error is detected, the corresponding recording data are again recorded in a new recording region.
