PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate handling of individual block bodies and to perform the setting of a back board relative to a front surface member extremely easily. SOLUTION: The block for retaining walls comprises the front surface member 4, the back surface member 5 separated in the backward direction from the front surface member with its lateral width made narrower than that of the front surface member, and a connection member 6 integrally connecting the front surface member and the back surface member. The block is constituted of the block body 1 provided with grooves 5b, 5c in the vertical direction at the opposite side ends in the lateral width direction of the back surface member, and of the back board 2 provided to the back surface member of the block body and comprising a board member inserted into the grooves facing each other and engaged with the grooves.
