A conversation supporting device for supporting a conversation so as to reduce necessary operations to create a speech and to promptly end the conversation overall even if the other person interruptively makes a speech. The conversation supporting device comprises an example database (101) holding examples used in conversations, a speech receiving section (102) for receiving a speech of the user and outputting it as speech information, an example selecting section (103) for extracting candidates of examples from the example database (101) according to the speech information, selecting a desired example specified by the user from the extracted example candidates, and outputting an example corresponding to the specified example, a transmitting section (104) for transmitting the corresponding example to the conversation supporting device of the party user, a receiving section (105) for receiving the example transmitted from the conversation supporting device of the party user, a speech outputting section (106) for outputting the received example, and an example re-evaluating section (107) for re-evaluating the candidates of examples held in the example selecting section (103) according to the example.
