ULTRA THIN OPTICAL POINTING DEVICE AND PERSONAL PORTABLE DEVICE HAVING THE SAME

An ultra slim optical pointing device and a PDA(Personal Digital Assistant) equipped with the same are provided to prevent a user from feeling tired or minimize lowering of vision by glaringness, minimize wrong operations of an optical image sensor by surrounding external lighting, and offer a lens module easily mounted to the PDA. An LED(Light Emitting Diode)(501) is installed to one upper side of a PCB(Printed Circuit Board)(508). A cover plate(503) detects motion of a finger. A lighting system(502) transfers a light source of the LED to the cover plate. An imaging lens(505) collects light reflected from the finger at a lower part of the cover plate. The optical image sensor(507) detects the motion of the finger by receiving an image of the reflected finger. A column(509) is installed to one upper side of the PCB. The lighting system, the cover plate, and the imaging lens are made of optical plastic passing only the infrared band not recognized to an eye of a user.
