PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication system performing communication through a radio channel other than a radio telephone set circuit without performing any complicated operation. SOLUTION: Whether a portable telephone set 2 can be connected to a fixed telephone set 4 through a radio LAN circuit 111 is preliminarily determined when the portable telephone set 2 performs speech communication to a portable telephone set 3, and when communication can not be performed to the portable telephone set 3 through a radio LAN circuit 113, the portable telephone set 2 performs speech communication to the portable telephone set 3 by a public telephone circuit 9 through the fixed telephone set 4. When the fixed telephone set 4 can not be connected from the radio LAN circuit 111, the communication is performed to the portable telephone set 3 through a radio telephone circuit.
