<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information reading apparatus capable of preventing degradation of reading accuracy of information caused by a scratched glass plane, even when a contact image sensor is used, for example, in a portable handy scanner. <P>SOLUTION: The information reading apparatus (handy scanner 1) includes a frame 2 forming a running path, a portion of the frame 2 is formed as a running reference plane 3, for reading information by means of an information recording medium (card 4) being swiped along the running reference plane 3. The information reading apparatus also includes an imaging means (contact image sensor 5) for imaging an image on the information recording medium via an optically transparent member (glass surface 5a). At least on a portion of the periphery of the optically transparent member, a contact preventing portion (rib 9) is formed, to prevent the information recording medium from coming into contact with the optically transparent member. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
