Process for the prepn. of a fungicide is characterised by (1) adding to a mixt. of aq. or alcoholic solutions of an alkali metal or ammonium slat of 1 mole of an alkylene-bis-dithiocarbamate of formula (I): (where A is phenylene or 2-6C alkylene); 0.1 to 10 moles of an alkyl or dialkyldithiocarbamate of formula (II): (where R is H or 1-4C alkyl); 0.1 to 6 moles of an amine of formula (III): or an ammonium or phosphonium salt of formulae (IV) or (where R', R2, R3 and R4 independently are H, 1-20C unsubstd. alkyl; phenyl, napthyl, benzyl or phenenthyl opt. substd. by one to three Me, Et, -OMe, -OEt, F, Br, Cl, I, NO2 or trihalomethyl; 1-20C hydroxyalkyl; 1-20C haloalkyl; or R' and R2 together with the N-atom may form a cyclic group of formula O or N; n and m independently are 1,2,3 or 4) and aq. or alcoholic solution of 0.75-6 moles of a polyvalent metal salt; (2) reaction is carried out at 20-80 degrees C; (3) the resulting ppt. is filtered and dried at 40 degrees C. (B) Novel metal salts are of formula (Ia) and (Ib): (where M is a metal cation of gp. IIA, IIIA, IVA, IB, IIB, VIB, VIIB or VIII; Y is R'R2R3N; X is 0 or a positive number a, b, x and y are whole numbers; a = x+y/2; b is 1 or 2; R1 and R2 are as above except for (B)): (where Y is R'R2R3R4N or R'R2R3R4P; R1 and R2 are as above except for (A); 2a+b= 2x+y; the other definitions being as above). |
