PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a technique for protecting a logical data structure in a storage system. SOLUTION: A storage device includes a storage medium, a read-write mechanism, an object base file system interface and a controller. The read-write mechanism is adapted to read data from the storage medium and to write data into the storage medium. The object base file system interface in the storage device is adapted to compile data in the storage medium as an object to access it and to access an attribute of each data object. The controller is adapted to generate redundant data for each data object stored in the storage medium in accordance with a relevant attribute and to store the data object and the relevant redundant data in the storage medium.
