PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably manufacturing high-quality polyester and a high-tenacity polyester fiber by controlling an esterification reaction in an extremely simple and reliable manner. SOLUTION: The method of continuously producing polyester comprises steps of preparing a slurry comprising a dicarboxylic acid and glycol in a slurry preparation tank, supplying the slurry quantitatively and continuously to an esterification reaction tank, conducting the esterification reaction on a plurality of esterification reaction tanks followed by polycondensation, and continuously producing polyester, wherein the temperature of slurry to be supplied to the esterification reaction tanks is controlled within±4°C of a set value. A solid phase polycondensation method in which the solid phase polycondensation is conducted using the polyester and the high-tenacity polyester fiber obtained by spinning the polyester produced by the solid phase polycondensation are also provided.
