<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of reducing time for switching color/monochrome modes while extending the life of an image forming part. <P>SOLUTION: When the monochrome mode is selected, actions of photoreceptors corresponding to cyan, magenta and yellow are stopped, and light emission by laser diodes corresponding to cyan, magenta and yellow is stopped. By keeping the motors driving polygon mirrors corresponding to cyan, magenta and yellow rotating (monochrome modes B-D), an image can be formed quickly when the mode is switched to the color mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
