PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the peak power in a complex air conditioner where an electric driven compressor and an engine driven compressor are combined. SOLUTION: A heat pump type air conditioner has the engine driven compressor 1 using a gas engine 2 as a power source and the electric driven compressor 3 using a motor as a power source in parallel, an outdoor heat exchanger 5 and a plurality of indoor heat exchangers 10 through which a refrigerant compressed by the compressors is circulated, and an outdoor control part 12 for selecting a compressor operating according to the use condition of the air conditioner and controlling the capacity. The outdoor control part 12 has an electric energy limiting means for setting a maximum used amount of electric power supplied to the motor so that the total of electric power supplied to the motor and separately inputted used electric power of another device does not exceed a previously set upper limit value.
