A composition comprising an extract of Lonicera caerulea L. var. edulis is provided to show excellent liver function recovery and growth recovery capacity without toxicity, thereby being effectively used for preventing and treating liver diseases. The pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating liver diseases such as hepatitis, liver cirrhosis and fatty liver comprises an extract of Lonicera caerulea L. var. edulis prepared by water, organic solvents or a mixture solvent thereof.
