The device has a peer-to-peer system with storages having read write memories to receive/deliver objects including electronic data, and communication connections (301, 303) are provided between data processing units. The units are represented as an in-line configuration with a ranking of the memories in a virtual memory in the system. Entries comprising electronic reference information are formed in routing tables (302) for memories. An independent claim is also included for a method for searching a data processing unit to store an object containing electronic data in the unit/to access the unit in a system.
