A digital TV and a software download method thereof are provided to supply various kinds of system software according to download option information selected by a user, thereby realizing positive downloading and updating of the various system software. A software download method of a digital TV includes the steps of generating option selecting GUI(Graphical User Interface) for a user to input download option information(S20), storing the input download option information(S30), determining whether software corresponding to the stored download option information exists in received broadcasting signals on the basis of update information in the broadcasting signals(S60), and downloading software if the software of a new version exists in the broadcasting signals correspondingly to the download option information(S70,S80).
