A stream is recorded in a control format allowing format conversion from a first format (MPEG-TS) to a second format (MPEG-PS) and is seamlessly connected. An apparatus and a method for converting the stream into a second stream are provided. At the time of converting the system stream, which is recorded in the control format allowing conversion of the first format (for instance, MPEG transport stream) into the second format (for instance, MPEG program stream), into the second format, an overlap of audio information of the two system streams at a seamless connection point is eliminated. ® KIPO & WIPO 2007
