R1, R2 = H or methyl, but not both H; and R3 = methyl. #CMT#[Image]#/CMT# #CMT#USE : #/CMT# (I) is useful as active agent in topical composition to prevent and reduce adhesion of microorganisms on the surface of the skin and/or the mucous membranes. The composition is useful as cleanser and/or make-up removal composition for the skin and to reduce body odor (all claimed). The composition is also useful for lips, scalp, lashes, eyes and/or the hair and in personal care. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# (I) has good bacterial growth resistance; is devoid of side effects like irritations and allergy and provides healthy and hygienic texture. #CMT#PHARMACEUTICALS : #/CMT# Preferred Composition: The composition comprises (I) at a concentration of 0.001-20 wt.%, preferably 0.1-15 wt.%, particularly as a mixture of madecassoside and terminoloside. #CMT#EXAMPLE : #/CMT# Water-in-oil emulsion composition comprises water (35%); preservative (0.5%); glycerin (20%); sodium citrate (1.5%); citric acid (0.3%); a mixture containing madecassoside (5%) and water (10%); polyethylene glycol-18/polypropylene glycol-18 dimethicone (1.2%); cyclopentasiloxane (22%); dimethicone (2%); dimethiconol behenate (2%) and polysorbate-20 (0.5%).
