Described is a process for obtaining an activated agglomerated alumina from aluminium sulphate of a low purity of from about 5%. The process consists in two main stages; the first stage defining the preparation of a pseudoboehmitic material, solid powder, by reacting an aluminium sulphate solution with gas ammonia under defined conditions; and the second stage defines the formation of drop-agglutinated spheroid bodies, which upon being calcined results in the activated alumina phase with properties of fracture resistance higher than a reference agglomerated metal with specific area values of from about 230-300 m2/g, the values being characteristic of these type of adsorbent materials.. |
