<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video processing apparatus capable of surely and quickly executing discrimination processing of a video format by discriminating the presence of a synchronizing signal before discrimination processing of the video format. <P>SOLUTION: A TV microcomputer 21 includes: a video format discrimination processing function that discriminates the video format of a received broadcast signal depending on the number of scanning lines within a vertical period; and a synchronizing signal discrimination function that counts the number of horizontal synchronizing signal pulses and discriminates the presence of the synchronizing signal on the basis of the number of counts, first uses the synchronizing signal discrimination function to discriminate the presence of the synchronizing signal before execution of the video format discrimination processing and carries out the video format discrimination processing by the video format discrimination processing function only when the presence of the synchronizing signal is discriminated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
