<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a face-discriminating apparatus for robustly discriminating whether an object and a registered image coincide with each other, even if the object is not photographed in the same direction as that of the registered image, and for processing at a high speed. <P>SOLUTION: A face-discriminating apparatus for discriminating whether the face of a person coincides with a registered facial image comprises a plurality of cameras, of which the mutual positional relation has been known; a matching degree calculating means for calculating the matching degrees to the registered facial images, respectively, for each captured image; a face direction estimating means for estimating the face directions of each image, on the basis of the matching degrees; an image selection means for selecting one or plural images, of which the directions are close to each other among the images, on the basis of the estimated face directions and the face directions of the registered facial images; a threshold setting means for setting the thresholds for discrimination, on the basis of the estimated face directions; and a discriminating means for comparing the matching degrees and the thresholds for the selected images in discriminate whether the face of the person matches the registered facial image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
