PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring/searching method and a system for monitoring or searching an object floating or drifting or traveling on the sea capable of certainly and efficiently monitoring or searching the object on the sea. SOLUTION: The monitoring/searching system for monitoring or searching the object floating or drifting or traveling on the sea has a GPS receiver 12 for receiving a positioning electric wave 13a from a GPS (Global Positioning System) navigation satellite 13 on a searching ship 10. A search person is searched by a monitoring device 11 such as a laser radar or the like while confirming an own ship position and a navigation history by a data processor for processing the positioning electric wave, displaying position information of the searching ship 10 and not shown.
