A device and a method for providing interface connection guide service are provided for a user to simply carry out connection of audio and video interface connection according to interface connection guide voice and/or images and realize simple conversion of component output mode. A method for providing interface connection guide service includes the steps of checking audio and video interface connection states in the case of interface connection guide mode setting(S10,S11), and outputting interface connection guide service voice or images according to audio or video jack connection states(S12-S15). The audio and video interface connection states are determined according to A/V jack connection states by detecting voltage values applied to input/output ports of an A/V interface part. The interface connection guide service is realized by both of the voice and the images when audio/video jacks of a television are connected(S16,S17). If a component output port is connected to a jack(S18), component Pr/Pb/Y signals of high resolution are output via a television according to user's component output mode conversion(S20).
