<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain a space between an optical waveguide structure and an optical element within a specific range. <P>SOLUTION: When a surface emitting element 2a and a surface receiving element 2b are arranged on a positioning plate 5 installed on a substrate 4, elastic body layers 6a, 6b are provided between the positioning plate 5 and the elements. When the first projections 41a, 41b of the optical waveguide structure 40 are fixedly engaged with the holes 5a, 5b of the positioning plate 5, the second projections 441, 443, 444, 445 formed in prescribed dimensions in the optical waveguide structure 40 are applied against the surface emitting and receiving elements 2a, 2b. As a result, the spaces between lenses 431-438 in one part and the surface emitting and receiving elements 2a, 2b in the other part are controlled in a specific range corresponding to the dimensions of the second projections 441, 443, 444, 445. In addition, a stress caused by the applying is dispersed through the elastic body layers 6a, 6b, preventing the surface emitting and receiving elements 2a, 2b from being damaged. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
