PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder with a reduced space for a selector member, which turns to select a sheet conveying passage when feeding sheets from a sheet feed tray and when printing in both surfaces of the sheets, and miniaturized in the whole of the device. SOLUTION: This sheet feeder 50 is provided with a turnable upper guide member 58 between the sheet feed tray 52 provided on the upstream side of a sheet feed roller 54 in the sheet feeding direction. Turnable lower guide members 66 are provided under the sheet feed roller 54 on both sides of a separating roller 56. When printing in both the surfaces, a cam 76 is rotated to turn the lower guide member 66 in an arrow B direction, and a link member 68 turns the upper guide member 58 in an arrow C direction. With this structure, a guide passage 102 for guiding the sheets P is formed between the sheet feed roller 54, the upper guide member 58 and the lower guide member 66 to feed the sheets P to a conveying passage 27 again. When feeding the sheets P from the sheet feed tray 52, the cam 76 is rotated to turn the lower guide member 66 and the upper guide member 58 to a retreat position not interfering with the fed sheets P.
