PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise generation caused by transmission error without adding an arithmetic circuit such as an interpolation circuit into a decoder regardless of the number of bits of the transmission error when compressing and transmitting audio data in an ADPCM form. SOLUTION: A decoder 6 of an ADPCM scheme comprises switching means 7, 8, 10, 11 for switching and selecting either data of a current sampling term or preceding data by one sampling term as data to be used for decoding and if any error is detected in inputted compression data, preceding data by one sampling term are selected by the switching means 7, 8, 10, 11.
