<p>A modular heat exchanger for an automotive oil cooling system is assembled from plastic components and has a series of essentially parallel tubes for the hot oil and the coolant. The tubes run transverse through a series of heat-exchanger plates whose outer edges are bent to form tray-like panels arranged in a stack. The heat exchanger has inlets and outlets for the cooling medium and oil respectively, and a by-pass for the hot oil. The by-pass passage extends from the oil inlet through one of the tubes to the oil outlet. The oil outlet connector fitting is located axially over the tray-shaped outermost heat exchanger panel.</p> |
