PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dimming device which can be developed for applications to various ways of utilization, and with which design of a means to supply voltage to an optical element is not damaged. SOLUTION: The dimming device has the optical element 3 and a transparent solid layer 8 equipped between two transparent plates 1, 2, wherein the optical element 3 is equipped with transparent substrates 31, 32 with a pair of transparent electrodes attached thereto and a dimming layer 35. The dimming device is equipped with connection wires 4 which are respectively conductively connected to the pair of transparent electrodes 33, 34. The connection wires 4 are fixed to and arranged on the transparent substrates 31, 32 via an ACF 45, and further, are arranged in gaps separated from the respective two transparent plates 1, 2 so as to make at least one ends of them reach to outer ends of the transparent plates.
