PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmission device or the like for a liquid type internal combustion locomotive capable of efficiently performing switching works between transferring traveling and self-propelling traveling. SOLUTION: After the transferring traveling, when a second clutch mechanism 45 is connected, an auxiliary engagement device 29 is operated at the same time when the second clutch mechanism 45 is operated. A gear clutch 50 is rotated by rotating a first propelling shaft 9 by the auxiliary engagement device 29 and is engaged with a gear 51 to be engaged while rotating the gear clutch 50.
