PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a raindrop flowing down on an outside surface of a cleaner cover body from being sucked in an air cleaner via a suction port, in the air cleaner of a general purpose engine. SOLUTION: In this air cleaner of the engine, the suction port 50 communicating with outside air and an exhaust port 16 communicating with an intake port of the engine E, are arranged in an upper cover body 11 of the cleaner cover body 10, and a cleaner element unit Ue cleaning the outside air sucked in from the suction port 50, is stored in its inside.
