Disclosed is an organic electroluminescent device (1) comprising an anode (10), a cathode (30), and a light-emitting layer (20) arranged between the anode (10) and the cathode (30) and composed of an anode-side region (22), an inner region (24) and a cathode-side region (26). The regions (22, 24, 26) respectively contain a host compound composed of an organic material and a dopant composed of a metal complex of a heavy metal and having luminescence of triplet contribution. The dopant concentration of the inner region (24) is higher than the dopant concentrations of the anode-side region (22) and the cathode-side region (26).
