METHOD FOR PERFORMING HANDOVER IN A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

<p>A handover performing method in a communication system is provided to enable a terminal to cancel or reject a handover procedure to maintain a connection with a serving base station after performing handover from the serving base station to a target base station. When the necessity that a mobile subscriber terminal should perform handover is detected, it is determined that the mobile subscriber terminal should perform handover. One of target base stations is informed that the mobile subscriber terminal will perform handover thereto. A handover message including information, which indicates that the mobile subscriber should forcibly perform handover to the target base station, is transmitted to the mobile subscriber terminal.</p>
