The invention relates to a gearbox drive unit (1) for adjusting seat elements, in particular a backrest. An electric drive element (4) drives a driven unit (15) by means of an intermediate unit (10). Said driven unit (15) comprises first (16) and second (17) wheels which are symmetrically arranged with respect to each other in such a way that a symmetrical force is applied thereon by the intermediate unit (10). In addition, said gearbox drive unit (1) can be mounted according to left- and right-hand embodiment thereof.
