<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine, capable of improving exhaust gas purifying effect by sufficiently putting exhaust gas in contact with an exhaust sensor, and improving flow of exhaust gas without increasing the number of components. <P>SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine is provided with an exhaust manifold 1, and an exhaust emission control device 2 disposed just downstream of the exhaust manifold 1. The exhaust manifold 1 is provided with an enlarged chamber 6a provided with the exhaust sensor 7 on the top, and having an inner space gradually enlarged from the top toward a lower part where it is directly coupled with the exhaust emission control device 2, and branch tubes 4 and 5 connected to a first exhaust port at one end, connected to a second exhaust port at the other end, and opening-connected to the enlarged chamber 6a through opening parts 4c and 5c, in which wall parts 4d and 5d are directed toward the exhaust sensor 7 at the opening parts 4c and 5c. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
